Restoration, preservation, and rehabilitation of Sri Lankan wildlife is a crucial but mostly neglected sector in Sri Lanka. Wildlife being one of Sri Lanka’s biggest assets, so far, the actions of the governing parties, as well as the public, have been detrimental to the preservation of this valuable resource.
The National Parks of Sri Lanka must undergo extensive restoration programmes by involving experts and officials. Preservation must be enabled by regulating public and vehicular access, urge governing bodies to educate the public on best practices when accessing wildlife parks, and setting laws in place for ongoing preservation.
